In this collaborative project, we partnered closely with the music department, creating a unique intersection of art forms. The music students joined the graphic design students to bring a creative vision to life. I specifically teamed up with a talented student named Kellie, whose captivating voice was perfect for this endeavor. Kellie performed a heartfelt rendition of the powerful poem “A Brown Girl Dead” by Countee Cullen, infusing it with emotion and depth.

What Sources I Used

I began my creative process by using Ibis Paint to thoroughly sketch and illustrate a girl wearing a flowing white dress. I took my time to capture the delicate folds of the fabric and the graceful way it draped around her figure.

I opened Adobe Photoshop to enhance my image, where I meticulously applied various effects to give the girl an ethereal, ghostly appearance. I carefully adjusted the lighting and added a soft blur to create a mysterious atmosphere around her.
